Open House set for Pipeline Project

Enbridge Energy is proposed to expand its pipeline system, which runs from Flanagan in Illinois to Griffith in Indiana.  The existing pipeline, which Line 78 will mostly follows runs through Livingston, Grundy, Kankakee, Will and Cook Counties.  Potentially affected landowners have been notified and the public is invited to attend and informational session about the project.  Open houses are scheduled for: Monday, March 11 from 5 till 7:30 PM at the Kankakee Hilton Garden Inn (455 Riverstone Pkwy, Kankakee, IL); Tuesday, March 12 from 5 till 7:30 PM at the Peotone American Legion (109 E. North St., Peotone, IL); Wednesday, March 13 from 5 till 7:30 PM at the Sauk Village Senior Center (21801 Torrence Ave., Sauk Village, IL); and Thursday, March 14 from 5 till 7:30 PM at Andorra Banquets and Catering, San Loria Room (1112 Rte. 41, Schererville, IN). 4-H Members Prepare Meal for Ronald McDonald House Families

4-H Club members from Cook County recently prepared dinner for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House near Loyola Hospital.  Although 4-H members do many community service projects throughout the year, numerous members expressed that they “really enjoyed this one because we got to cook”.

Farm Bureau Raise nearly $18,000 for Local Ronald McDonald Houses

CBS sportscaster Ryan Baker takes the shopping prize during Cook County Farm Bureau®’s Food Checkout Day scavenger hunt at the Dominick’s store in the Streeterville neighborhood of Chicago.  Baker edged out ABC sportscaster Mark Giangreco by six items.  The entire shopping list, which was developed from the Ronald McDonald House® of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana “wish list” was matched by Dominick’s in addition to their $10,000 Food Checkout Day donation.  Pictured from left to right is: Doug Porter, Chief Executive Officer of Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana; Dominick’s representative; Ronald McDonald, Mark Rauch, Cook CFB Vice-President; Mark Giangreco, ABC News Chicago; and Ryan Baker, CBS News Chicago.  The event raised nearly $18,000 for the charity.

Farm Bureau Leaders Celebrate Food Checkout Day

Cook County Farm Bureau Board Members are excited to kick off this year's Food Checkout Day!

Food Checkout Day highlights the safe and nutritious food that local farmers grow while also drawing attention to those families who struggle to find solutions to feeding their families healthy and nutritious food on a tight budget.  Through Farm Bureau's partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana, Farm Bureau members are able to assist families during the most difficult time of their lives, when their child is ill.

 

Join us in Celebrating Food Checkout Day

For the past 13 years, Cook County Farm Bureau has partnered with the Ronald McDonald House Charities®.  Through this partnership, Farm Bureau members and volunteers have been able to donate much needed food, pop tabs and funds to assist families during the most difficult time of their lives, when a child is sick.  The 2013 Food Checkout Day program will be held on Thursday, February 21 at the world’s largest Ronald McDonald House located near Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago and at the Ronald McDonald House located near Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn. Please consider joining us in this great effort!  Food and pop tab donation can be dropped off at your local Country Financial Agency or the Cook County Farm Bureau office.  Cash donations can be sent to: Cook CFB, 6438 Joliet Road in Countryside, IL 60525.  Checks should be made out to Ronald McDonald House Charities®.
