Young Leaders visit Local ClassroomWalker Elementary School in Bedford Park
“How big is your farm?”, “What animals do you have on your farm?”, “How many greenhouses do you have?” The third-grade students at Walker Elementary School in Bedford Park had many questions for Young Leaders Doug Yunker and Becca Biernacki who visited the school as part of the Illinois Ag in the Classroom Adopt A Classroom Program.
Yunker talked to the students about his family corn and soybean farm explaining how he delivers some of his corn to Ingredion which is across the street from the school.
Biernacki spoke about her family's greenhouse and brought examples of poinsettias and other plants that are produced year-round at Ted's Greenhouse in Tinley Park.
The students were excited to share their knowledge of farming with the young leaders including posters showing the definitions of agriculture terms they studied prior to the visit. Our thanks to teacher Ms. Eva Manske for sharing agricultural resources with her students through our local, state and national AITC partnerships.
