Cook County Commissioners Approve Resolution Honoring National Agriculture Day
National Agriculture Day celebrates the contributions of farmers and the farm products they grow and raise. In celebration of farmers, Cook County Commissioner Scott Britton of Glenview introduced Resolution 25-1792, which recognizes and celebrates National Agriculture Day.
Resolution Commissioners Frank Aguliar, Alma Anaya, John Daley, Bridget Degnen, Bridget Gainer, Bill Lowry, Dr. Kisha McCaskill, Donna Miller, Stanley Moore, Josina Morita, Kevin Morrison, Sean Morrison, Anthony Quezada, Michael Scott Jr., Tara Stamps, and Maggie Trevor are co-sponsors of the resolution.
In addition to celebrating the abundance of Cook County agriculture, the resolution highlights agriculture’s impact on the local community, including that agriculture and agriculture related industries support over 110,000 jobs and generate over $15.4 billion in value-added.
Cook County Farm Bureau® Approves 2025 County Legislative Priorities
Governmental Affairs Committee members approved the following priorities for 2025.
We will work to ensure that farmland in Cook County is assessed in a fair and reasonable manner. Additionally, we will work with the Cook County Assessor’s Office to further streamline the farmland affidavit process.
We will work with the forest preserve district to ensure that hay and row crop farming opportunities remain available to local farmers interested in pursuing rental agreements with the district. If requested, Farm Bureau will provide assistance with advertising available parcels, the rental process, paperwork, and deadlines.
